Thank you for alerting us to the fact that Tim Coates supports the views of Eric Pickles who has slashed the budgets for local authorities which is the direct cause of the cuts to libraries, and who has frontloaded the cuts to this year which means they have no time nor capacity to look at the budgets properly, and is using this as the means by which he can blame councils when it's actually his fault.

Be very wary of people who support Pickles.

Thanks for alerting us to the MLA involvement with council which are closing libraries. I have just checked the MLA website and find they have been working with Suffolk which has issued the ultimatum that 29 libraries will be closed if they are not taken on by their communities. Last night, the head of the county library service told the parish council here in Debenham (pop 2000) that they would need £17,000 a year to keep something which resembled a real library.
