Amazon have done a miraculous job in making books available  and at incredible value .  Never has &#039;the long tail&#039; of book backlist been so well served and accessible  (and don&#039;t claim that libraries do it)
 
As for working for profit  - we all work to get paid if we can  - even members of the library profession . For 99.9% of people in any commercial operation  - getting paid is as near as they get to the profits of the company. 
 
The suggestion that &#039;only librarians will recommend books to children&#039; is just insulting to parents, to teachers, to grandparents - even to booksellers - to almost everybody.
