Hi Stephen. I'm pleased to hear about your experiences with GLL. That organisation is of course a Trust and so not like an out and out private company like Carillion. I think also it is worth pointing out that Laing (and LSSI in the USA) appear to have a better record than Carillion - it is the latter company that is messing up the field for the others. Outsourcing to a Trust does not appear to have caused any major problems for the public that I have as yet noted.

Interesting update on the situation in Notiinghamshire. However, I think the example given of privatisation (Croydon) is a bad one. I live close to the border of Greenwich and regularly use its service. Since being taken over by GLL a few years ago, I have seen nothing but improvements to the service. The staff are so friendly and helpful, reservations that used to cost 95p are now free and when studying I can always find a table! Maybe Nottinghamshire should consider it.
