I don’t accept that libraries are bearing the brunt of cuts in the public sector, but the budgets that they had were minute to begin with, when compared to Social Services, and other areas of local council provision. The deepest loss is the loss of professional librarians and their professionalism and that cannot be restored as if by some magic wand. Smoke and mirrors again.
